About
The Well Church is a Christ-centered community committed to loving God, loving people and making and maturing disciples of Christ.
We welcome all people from all stories and walks of life to come and know God and be satisfied in Him.
What we believe
As a congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Australia, The Well Church holds to the Westminster Confession of Faith read in light of the Declaratory Statement as its statement of faith and its basis of union.
-
We believe in one true God who eternally exists in three persons - Father, Son and Holy Spirit - each of whom is fully God, yet there is one God.
God is the perfect, eternal creator of all things and is sovereign over all things.
-
We believe that the Bible is the true and infallible word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit and without error in the original manuscripts. The Bible is God’s revelation of himself to humankind.
The Bible is our supreme authority in all matters of faith, conduct and living, and is sufficient for believers in knowing God, and for equipping believers to live a life that is worthy of the Gospel.
-
We believe that all people are created in the image of God, and therefore possess an innate unity, dignity and worth regardless of ethnicity or gender. Since the fall, sin has broken all humanity and creation, leaving humanity universally sinful by nature and choice. All people are deserving of God’s justice and wrath and are unable to save themselves, and are in desperate need of salvation through Jesus.
-
We believe that Jesus is fully God and fully man.
Jesus entered into the full human experience, yet lived a sinless life. Jesus took on the consequences of human sin on the cross, sacrificially died, was buried, and rose again physically from the dead, and is now exalted as Lord over all. Through his life, death, and resurrection, Jesus did all that was necessary to make salvation possible for those who trust in him alone.
-
We believe that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. God by his grace, sovereignly elects and calls the saved person, through the Holy Spirit regenerating the dead heart, enabling them to respond with repentance, faith, and obedience as a child of God.
-
We believe the Holy Spirit is fully God, and is a person, not an impersonal force. The ministry of the Holy Spirit in the believer’s life consists of convicting God’s people of sin and producing godly character, and the giving of spiritual gifts to encourage believers and to build up the body of Christ in love.
-
We believe that the church is the gathered community of all true believers around Christ in His Word. A local church community is led by a plurality of elders who are called to shepherd the people through knowing, feeding, leading and protecting them. The elders are under authority as under-shepherds under the authority and leadership of Jesus, the Great Shepherd.
-
We believe Jesus will return to judge the living and the dead, and in doing so, restore and redeem all creation to himself.
Our story
Our church community was established in 2013 as a church plant from an English-speaking congregation in Korea, initially consisting of a handful of people who met in the offices of a Sydney frozen yoghurt shop, united by a God-planted desire to make Jesus known. In 2017, our church became independent with the blessing of the sending church in Korea. In 2020, the congregation voted David Chong as our pastor. Under his leadership, we joined the Presbyterian Church of Australia (PCA) in 2023 and became part of the Presbytery of Western Sydney.
At the end of 2023, David Chong stepped away from his role, and during our search for a new pastor, Rev. Elliot Ku was called to our church. In June 2024, he accepted the call to be our Lead Pastor and Moderator, beginning in 2025. We look forward to this new chapter and the continued growth and discipleship of our church under Elliot’s leadership.
By God’s grace, our church gathers together to worship in the local area of the Sydney Olympic Park, and seeks to not only care for its members well but to share the good news of Jesus Christ with all who need to hear it.
You are welcome here.

Kevin Choi

Kevin is married to Ashleigh, and together they have beautiful sons named Eden & Jorden. He enjoys running and swimming as well as spending time with his family.
*The terms signal that Elliot provides leadership over the church as pastor. He is also moderator (a term used by Presbyterians to refer to a chairperson) of the Session (a plurality of elders).
Our Ministers in Training
The Well Church delights in being a “teaching church” - a place where aspiring pastors and leaders can come to be equipped for Christian ministry. In 2025, we have two student pastors (or Ministers-In-Training) serving with us.
John Le completed his Bachelor of Theology at Moore Theological College and is currently taking his ordination studies at Christ College. John was a civil engineer and worked as a cost estimator prior to training for ministry. He trained as a ministry apprentice from 2020-2021 and comes to The Well Church having spent 2 years as student pastor at Penshurst Presbyterian Church. John enjoys ministering to university students, lifting weights, and good humour.
Clement Hui is a second year theological student at Christ College. Clement was a high school teacher and taught social sciences for a number of years prior to training for ministry. He trained as a ministry apprentice from 2022-2023 and joined The Well Church with his wife Rebecca. Clement enjoys ministering to high school students, dancing, and feline creatures.
